Civics Connects from the Virginia Museum of History and Culture

Aimed at Virginia middle school students but adaptable to learners at other levels, Civics Connects is a new toolkit for inquiry-based exploration and discovery that will provide a sweeping foundation of civics, cover all Virginia standards of learning for civics and economics in the middle grades, and align with broader national standards. Units include key vocabulary lists, inquiry and prediction activities, downloadable Google Slides presentations, and other classroom-friendly materials.

Unit 2 on Foundations of American Government is currently available, and additional units covering will be released throughout the 2024-2025 academic year. Forthcoming units address media literacy and civil discourse, the branches of the U.S. government, state and local government, the judicial system, citizenship, and more.
