Communications and Assistance Specialist

Ali Buchanan

I am the Communications and Assistance Specialist at VALRC. In this role, I help support the VALRC team in any way I can with technical and development assistance as well as communications support. Originally from the Philadelphia area, I earned my B.A. in French from Salisbury University in Maryland. I have lived abroad and all over the States, teaching and working in the education and international education fields. My volunteer work with Literacy Volunteers of Charlottesville/Albemarle led me to pursue my M.Ed. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from the University of North Dakota. In addition to my work at VALRC, I tutor adult English Language Learners in Charlottesville and when I am not tutoring or volunteering, you will find me baking pastries, reading, or exploring bakeries and bookstores in new places.
