Facilitated Online Courses

Facilitated Online Courses Image

"If we teach today’s students as we taught yesterday’s, we rob them of tomorrow." ― John Dewey

This page contains a list of VALRC’s current online courses. Each term (Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer), we offer different multiweek courses. These online courses offer in-depth explorations of evidence-based practices in a variety of adult education areas such as working with adults with disabilities; teaching English to speakers of other languages; and teaching reading, writing, and numeracy skills.

Online courses have closed enrollment and are facilitated by qualified leaders in the field. Participants who complete and submit all required coursework receive a certification of completion, that may be used as evidence of professional learning.

Additionally, VALRC has developed an on-demand service for our online courses. Regional program managers or regional program specialists can request online courses for a cohort of ten or more participants. Please notify the VALRC office at valrccourses@vcu.edu a minimum of four weeks prior to the start of the desired course term. If you do not have the minimum number of participants to form a cohort, we will attempt to combine your group with another interested group in order to meet the required participant number.

Click on each course link for more information, including the course's estimated weekly time commitment and target audience. Please note that VALRC uses the Virginia Learning Center (VLC) management system for registration. All participants are required to have a VLC account in order to register for any of these courses. Directions on creating a new VLC account can be found here. For more information, or technical assistance, contact VALRC by email at vdesk@vcu.edu or by phone at 1-800-237-0178.
