VAECP: ESOL Instructor Level 1 Online

The VAECP Online allows participants to complete an entire level of certification through an interactive online setting consisting of individual work and a project portfolio, class discussions, formative assessment, and reflection with a cohort from various geographical and classroom experience perspectives. The VAECP Online incorporates the content of the day-long workshops, addressing specific components of the profession and an opportunity for participants to put what they have learned into practice.

Lessons and resources included in this course:

  • The field of adult education
  • Introduction to learning languages: research and methods
  • Content standards, assessment, accountability and NRS
  • Resources for instructing the adult English Language Learner
  • Teaching and learning with technology in the ESOL classroom
  • Multi-level learning
  • The stages of a learning plan

Completion of the course is designed to require a minimum of 40 hours of your time; approximately five to six hours a week. However, you may find that you want to spend longer with some topics.
