Instructional Tools

These tools, which are either free or have free versions, can be used to supplement instructional materials within the classroom or for additional practice outside of the classroom. Additional tools for teachers and students can be in the Tech Tools section of the website.

ReadTheory Logo

ReadTheory is a free educational tool that provides online reading activities, along with skill building exercises, for all ages and abilities.

MobyMax Logo

MobyMax is an online suite of learning solutions designed to close learning gaps by providing students with individualized learning opportunities. It includes 115 modules covering all subjects up to the 8th grade level. The platform has three tools―Differentiated Learning, Quick Checker, and Interactive Class.

Padlet Logo

Padlet is a presentation tool that allows you to put all of your materials in one place much like a sticky note on a virtual bulletin board.

G Suite Logo

Google Suite is a collection of applications that are available to people who have a Gmail account. These applications include but are not limited to Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Calendar, Google Forms, and Google Sheets.

CommonLit Logo

CommonLit is a free online learning platform that provides lesson plans and activities to support learners’ reading and writing skills.

Kahoot Logo

Kahoot! is a free, game-based learning platform designed to promote social learning. Kahoots can be created as quizzes, discussions, or surveys and students can compete as individual players or in teams. Instructors can track student progress through the assessment features in the platform. More features are available in paid subscriptions.

SkillBlox Logo

SkillBlox is a free, learning plan generation tool that pulls together learning materials from both publisher resources and free open education resources (OER). It organizes them by skill to provide an increased range of learning options for students. This tool currently includes only math resources, but more subjects are planned to be added.

Flipgrid Logo

Flipgrid is a video discussion platform that can be used by teachers and students. Using Flipgrid, teachers create a grid or virtual space focuesd on a topic or lesson. Students then respond to the topics using video. Flipgrid is fully accessible.

Quizlet Logo

Quizlet is a free app or desktop program that can be used to create flash cards, study, or play learning games.


Screencast-O-Matic is a free video recording and editing program that allows users to create videos using their screen, webcam, or both. This program is available for Chromebook, MAC, or Windows. Screencast-O-Matic is very easy to use and integrates easily with learning management systems and other platforms. After a video is created, the user can edit it in the program and save it as a file, upload it to Screencast-O-Matic, or upload it directly to YouTube
