Virginia Department of Education, Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education (CTAE)
The Virginia Adult Learning Resource Center (VALRC) is funded primarily with leadership funds under the Adult Education and Literacy Act administered by the Virginia Department of Education, Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education (CTAE). VALRC works closely with CTAE to provide professional development, technical assistance, resources, and information to adult educators statewide.

Virginia Literacy Foundation
In 2003, the Virginia Literacy Foundation and Virginia Commonwealth University partnered to create The Literacy Institute at VCU with VALRC as a division. The Foundation and VALRC work together to develop and conduct training programs to support community based literacy organizations across the Commonwealth.

Virginia Commonwealth University
Founded in 1838, VCU is a major research university located in the heart of Richmond. It has a student enrollment of 31,242. The Virginia Adult Learning Resource Center, established in the mid-1980s, is housed in VCU’s School of Education under the Department of Teaching and Learning. The SOE, ranked 33rd among U.S. graduate education programs by U.S. News and World Report, offers a master's degree in adult learning. |

Virginia Community College System
The Virginia Community College System (VCCS) and VALRC have collaborated on the PluggedInVA, a career and college transitions program developed by VALRC, since 2008. VCCS coordinates the educational programs for the EleVAte SNAP E&T project described below.

Virginia Department of Social Services
VALRC has partnered with the Virginia Department of Social Services on a number of projects over the past 25 years, most recently the EleVAte SNAP E&T project. Funded by the U. S. Department of Agriculture, EleVAte SNAP E&T provides education and training for food stamp recipients in seven areas of the commonwealth. VALRC is providing training and technical assistance for Component 3 of the grant, PluggedInVA.

Virginia Department of Aging and Rehabilitative Services
The Virginia Department of Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) has been an important partner with VALRC for many years as both organizations have worked to identify and implement programs and services to help adults with disabilities gain the skills they need to be successful and productive. Recently VALRC has begun to work with DARS on its Career Pathways for Individuals with Disabilities Project, funded by the U. S. Department of Education.

Virginia Department of Corrections
VALRC collaborates with the Virginia Department of Corrections to conduct training and provide resources to adult educators working in the schools within Virginia’s prisons.

LINCS
VALRC has been a part of the LINCS system since it was developed over 25 years ago to promote strong professional development for adult education nationwide. LINCS partners identify professional learning needs, share information, and promote learning communities and training offered through LINCS.
