READING PROJECT III
Event: Reading Project III
Begins: Wed, 22 Jul 2009 at 9:00 AM
Ends: Wed, 22 Jul 2009 at 4:00 PM
Description:
Description: Our adult learners often fit a “reading profile” that can help the teacher focus instruction. Teachers will become familiar with the components of reading (Alphabetics, Fluency, Vocabulary and Comprehension), and then learn to use a variety of free, user-friendly assessments to assess their students’ reading profiles. They will also gain hands-on experience with a variety of research-based instructional methods. Ideas for high-interest, low-level texts, websites, and teacher resources will also be provided. Each participant receives a free copy of Applying Research in Reading Instruction for Adults by Susan McShane, and a participant notebook packed with handouts and additional resources.
