Nancy Faux Bio PicAs the ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Specialist at VALRC, my efforts are directed toward providing support for Virginia's ESOL programs and their staff in the areas of professional development, assessment, curriculum, and instructional resources.

I have lived in Virginia for almost seventeen years since moving from Durango, Mexico, where I lived and worked for 25 years. I taught EFL (English as a Foreign Language) at the Universidad Juarez del Estado de Durango to high school students and adults. I hold a BA in history from Elon College, NC; an MA in history from Boston College, Mass.; and an MA in TESOL from the University of London. I love working with people from all over the globe, especially refugees with very limited English skills.

In the evenings and on weekends I am usually swimming, biking, or running in training for an upcoming triathlon. While out biking in the countryside, I found my two kitties, Millie and Mukie.
